The Cider Critic – From Teetotal to Cider Maker

Pack of six ciders and Zoom Ticket £20

An evening to explore the story behind “The Cider Critic” and what the future holds for the writer/vlogger turned cider maker.

An in depth look into what becoming a cider maker entails, the good, the bad and the faulty.

He will also be joined by two special guests on a similar cider making journey who will share their experiences and unreleased ciders exclusively with the good people of Manchester Cider Club. Andy Williams of Seven Trees Cider and Mike Shorland of Rull Orchard.

Tasting 7pm to 8.30pm

# James Finch, aka The Cider Critic, will share his story and talks through two ciders: Perry’s – Dabinett (the one that started it all) and Chapel Sider.

# Andy Williams – Seven Trees Cider

# Mike Shorland – Rull Orchard Cider

Followed by an informal social hour (or more) catching up with new local ciders from Manchester Urban cidery, Temperance Street Cider and Liverpools Brennans Cider.

James Finch, The Cider Critic, has been on a personal mission since 2012 and his first encounter with Perry’s Cider, to travel, explore and taste the breadth of what cider and perry has to offer. With his Fine Cider Friday videos, and regular cider articles James has become one of the best known faces in the cider community.

Andy Williams. Seven Trees Cider. Award winning hobbyist cider maker based in Reading, Berkshire with roots in the West Country. Growing his own fruit as well as sourcing locally from unwanted garden apples and from cider orchards in the West Country. Venturing into sales and wanting to keep it fun.

Mike Shorland spent his whole working life in demolition, until one sunny autumnal afternoon, while picking apples in a friends orchard, he had a reawakening. He wanted to create not destroy, grow not tear down. In 2018 he left his job and spent all his life savings on a field, where he has now planted a new 200 tree orchard, and built a small cidery. Still early in his cider journey his first commercial ciders have been well received.

Cider Pack contains six ciders from Perry’s (Dabinett), Chapel Sider, Seven Trees Cider, Rull Orchards, Brennans Cider and Temperance St Cider
